Lifecycle Email for
Product-Led SaaS

You're signing up thousands of users. Most never convert.
I build the email systems that turn signups into revenue.

Sound Familiar?

  • Onboarding emails thrown together years ago
  • Nobody knows what's working
  • Retention flatlines by week two
  • Trial-to-paid stuck in single digits

The Cost of Doing Nothing

A 10% lift in trial-to-paid on 30K signups at $20 ARPU?

$720K/year

Sitting in your database. Waiting to be activated.

Who I Work With

  • Product-led SaaS (B2C or self-serve B2B) users sign up and use without talking to sales
  • 1,000+ signups per day enough volume to actually test and learn
  • 5–50 employees past scrappy, not yet enterprise
  • Lifecycle email that "works" but you know it could work harder

How It Works

I help you apply the methodology from The SaaS Email Marketing Playbook to fix the leaks in your funnel.

Month 1: Discovery & Audit

Full audit of your funnel, analytics, existing campaigns, and competitor landscape. I map customer journeys, identify the biggest leaks, and define your train tracks — the state transitions that matter most.

You get: Funnel audit, journey maps, deliverability review, segmentation strategy, train track definitions, prioritized roadmap

Months 2–3: Build

I build and implement the sequences that move users along each track — activation, conversion, retention, expansion. Fully configured in your ESP with proper segmentation and triggers.

You get: Sequence specs, copy, segmentation logic — all built and launched in your ESP

Ongoing: Test & Optimize

Want to continue after launch? I run structured experiments on each train track — testing behavioral angles, timing, and personalization. Full execution, not just recommendations.

You get: Experiments designed, built, and run — with analysis and bi-weekly calls

Results

Etienne and his team helped significantly increase product engagement and conversions at LANDR. The email program they grew and optimized created consistent and predictable growth for the business.

Dave Jones

Ex-Chief Product Officer, LANDR

Scaling our high-traffic digital products with email was a daunting aspiration. Thankfully, we came across Etienne's writing, and by extension, the man himself! He truly knows his stuff. He combines marketing psychology with the nitty-gritty of email tech and analytics. There was always refreshing transparency about what was and wasn't working. His deep-thinking and thoroughness influenced how we think about our marketing efforts far beyond email. We are so grateful to work with him. He is the reason email remains a core focus for us.

Why Work With Me

I wrote the book

Literally. The SaaS Email Marketing Playbook is used by thousands of SaaS teams. You get the author, not someone who read a blog post.

Operator, not theorist

I've been in-house at LANDR and worked hands-on with dozens of SaaS companies. I know what actually works — and what doesn't.

Builder, not advisor

I don't just tell you what to do. I build the messages, set up the sequences, and run the tests. You get deliverables, not decks.

vs. Hiring in-house

A lifecycle marketing hire costs $80–120k/year plus ramp time. I get you results in weeks, not quarters — at a fraction of the cost.

vs. Agencies

Most agencies hand you to a junior after the sales call. You work directly with me. One expert, one point of contact.

vs. Doing It Yourself

You could figure it out yourself. But every month you spend learning is a month of revenue you leave on the table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Email Service Provider (ESP) do you work with?

I've worked extensively with Customer.io, Iterable, Braze, HubSpot, Intercom, and Klaviyo. I can adapt to others — the principles are the same. If you're choosing an ESP, I can help with that too.

Do you write the copy or just strategy?

Both. I can write copy from scratch, review and improve what your team writes, or work with great copywriters I've collaborated with before. Either way, you get real messages — not just frameworks.

How long until we see results?

You'll have new sequences live within 8–12 weeks. Measurable impact typically shows within 30–60 days after launch, depending on your volume.

What if we already have lifecycle emails?

Most clients do. The Discovery phase audits what you have, identifies gaps, and prioritizes improvements. Sometimes it's a rebuild, sometimes it starts with optimization.

Do you work with B2B SaaS?

Yes — if you're product-led with self-serve signups.

Why $8K/month?

You're getting a senior specialist who's done this dozens of times — not a junior or an agency team ramping up on your business. The 3-month minimum ensures enough time to actually move metrics, not just ship emails.

What's your availability?

I work with a maximum of 2 clients at a time to maintain quality. Current availability is usually 6–8 weeks out. Book a call to check.

About Étienne Garbugli

Étienne Garbugli

Étienne Garbugli

Étienne has spent 13 years in SaaS — as a founder, head of growth, and consultant. At LANDR, he built the lifecycle program that helped drive 4x revenue growth in two years.

He's the author of The SaaS Email Marketing Playbook, used by thousands of SaaS teams to rethink how they approach lifecycle.

His philosophy: most email problems aren't copy problems. They're targeting, timing, segmentation, and strategy problems. Fix those first, and the copy almost writes itself.
